Welcome to sciences department of St. Aloysius Gonzaga secondary School. The world is technologically transforming very fast and for a country to advance economically, it must have a robust framework in sciences, as it’s a key to spur development in various sectors of a country’s economy.
St. Aloysius Gonzaga Secondary is committed to producing graduates that are Science oriented. The school has three well equipped science laboratories with apparatus and other consumables and reagents. This has made teaching of science subjects (Chemistry, Biology and Physics), which are Practical oriented, very easy and enjoyable.
On a very encouraging note, the performance in science subjects in the National Exams has been on an upward trajectory. In last year’s National examination (2022), Physics registered a positive deviation of +3.33, while Chemistry had +2.337. In general, the Science department realized an improvement by a positive deviation of +1.681.
Science department is endowed with very hardworking and a team of dedicated teachers and a lab technician who go an extra mile to assist learners in areas deemed to be challenging. One of the strategies the department has employed is to engage teachers in capacity building workshops. Such workshops have been quite handy in helping teachers to stay abreast with emerging issues in the teaching, setting and examining of science subjects hence empowering them to be the best in their respective subject areas. Learners too have been regularly exposed to both internal and external contests and symposiums.
