St Al’s Land Campaign
Campaign for Land for Dormitories
In June of this year, in honor of the feast of St. Aloysius Gonzaga, we wrote to you and shared the great news about the parcel of land we had found and where we hope to build dormitories for our students. We asked for your donations both small and large and you responded with great generosity to our campaign.
We are very pleased with the response we have received from you to date. Your generosity has helped us make significant progress towards our goal and has given us the confidence that the goal is reasonable and reachable. Our goal is to provide safe and comfortable shelter to our students who face many challenges living in Kibera slums and attending a day school.
Today, we share with you another great milestone in our land campaign. We have crossed the 50% mark! You might recall that we sent out our appeal in late June. Our goal was to raise $850,000 (which was the total cost of the land and the house on it, a potential house for Jesuit community) and out of this amount, we have received pledges and commitments from three benefactors amounting to $350,000. In the past several weeks this campaign has raised over $155,000! That has raised the total amount raised so far to $505,000. Thank you for your generosity!
We are seeking to raise an additional $345,000 to reach our goal. We have already entered into an agreement with the seller and we need to complete the payment by the first week of September. We are hopeful that we will raise the additional amount by then. Please share this exciting opportunity with your friends and family!
Your donation will make a huge difference. Over the years, your support has touched lives and has provide hope for our students – that is why it is extremely important to us. Once we have purchased and paid for the land, and constructed the dormitories we know that this will make a world of difference in the lives of the orphans we serve from Kibera slums. Our students will have more time to interact with each other and build life-long friendships while living in the dormitories; they will have more time to dedicate themselves to their studies and more importantly, our students will be protected from the threat of being abused.
We are very excited about the dormitory project. We are asking that you kindly consider supporting us to reach our goal by first week of September. We appreciate donations in any amount -no donation is too small.
