Missioning Graduates for Community Service
Its a new calendar year at St. Al’s and happy 2017 to all. Everyone is upbeat and full of energy to take the school to the next level. After four years of intense studies and receiving support from the larger St. Al’s fraternity, it is time for our 2016 graduates to give back to the community. Freely they received and freely they will give back to the community for the next six months. Friday January 13th 2017, marked the official commissioning of more than 60 young boys and girls to serve and deepen their experiences in different places which include working with schools, children homes, health facilities and other CBOs/charitable organizations.
This event also marked the official release of 2016 KCSE results for the Form Four’s. Unlike the previous years, the government of Kenya released exams two months earlier. St. Al’s continue to demonstrate tremendous strides with more than 37% of the students attaining the minimum grade for direct university entry. Fr. Terry presided over the mass celebration that officially flagged off the graduates to zealously undertake their experience with a special message to “let the community service be a response of love”. He also encouraged them to positively affect the destiny of other people through a word or gesture. The graduates will be having debriefs every Friday to reflect on their experiences on community service even as they prepare for the next steps in their academic lives. Lets keep praying for them.
